Johann Stauffer #800 Violin 4/4 Germany
The Stauffer #800E Violin has been well-made in Germany using two-pieces of maple for the back, which have been lightly flamed with a very narrow curl, and ribs to match. The top is of a moderately grained spruce and the instrument has been finished with an amber-brown varnish. The violin is fitted with an ebony chinrest and pegs, and a Wittner tailpiece.
This instrument has a clear and open sound which projects easily at the extremes of the dynamic range. The violin has a strong response in the highs and lows of it register, and maintains a clean tone throughout. Players looking to complete their intermediate violin levels would benefit well from this instrument.
