What was once renowned as the best student-level violin, the Orion OVL80, has now been surpassed by the new Adagio I series violins – an even better option!
The newly released 2025 Adagio I violins showcase high-quality tonewoods and maintained all ebony fittings, including pegs, fingerboard, and endpin button.
We remain committed to our mission of providing top-quality instruments. These violins are perfect for beginner violinists, offering the ideal starting point for their musical journey at an affordable price.
Who is this violin for?
The Adagio I violin is ideal for players up to AMEB Grade 4 level. If you are not aiming for exams and simply want a dependable violin to enjoy playing, the Adagio I ticks all the boxes - reliable, easy to play, and built to perform without ongoing issues.
What is the difference between Adagio II and Adagio I?
The Adagio I is crafted from a slightly higher-grade spruce and maple, often described as being "selected from the finer stock." This model features a satin finish with a thin layer of varnish, designed to enhance resonance and deliver a richer, more refined tone.
Why are the Adagio I violins so suitable for beginners?
A key feature of our Orion brand remains unchanged: every violin is hand-set up in Australia for superior quality control. This includes precision adjustments to the bridge carving, soundpost positioning, and nut height. Additionally, we replace the standard strings with a premium $65 set of Armonico Vento synthetic core strings, delivering a warm, rich tone.
Our Australian luthiers and apprentices ensure every violin is expertly prepared so that every player has an equal opportunity to enjoy a well-made instrument. With the Adagio I violins, we’ve maintained the same price as the previous OVL80 model, despite the numerous upgrades.
The term "outfit" means this violin comes complete with a case and bow. It includes an oblong (rectangular) case with plenty of pocket space and a wooden bow with an ebony frog.
Available in full 4/4 size, as well as fractional sizes: 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/10, and 1/16.
