Building on the success of our best-selling beginner-intermediate violin, the OVL100, the relabelled Andante II model offers the same high quality and workmanship. Featuring a selected spruce top and flamed maple back and sides, these tonewoods are naturally air-dried for 5 to 8 years, ensuring a stable wood improved tone.
What is the difference between the Adagio and Andante series violins?
The Andante violins are crafted as intermediate-level instruments, offering superior quality and craftsmanship. Handmade with higher-grade tonewoods, these violins are meticulously produced in our award-winning workshop, which earned first place in the 2014 Malta Violin Making Competition. In contrast, the Adagio series is crafted in a different factory to our exacting standards for entry-level violins.
Key distinctions include the techniques and finishes: while parts of the Andante violin, such as the neck and body plates, are initially CNC machine-cut from blocks of spruce or maple, the final stages of scraping, planing, and thickness adjustments are done by hand the traditional method. The Andante violins are finished with a natural spirit-based varnish, like those found on professional-grade violins. This varnish is lightweight, enhancing the instrument's resonance, whereas the Adagio series uses a spray-on PU mixture for a more durable and water resistance finish. All Andante violins receive a professional setup in our workshop in Australia for the final touches.
Why is the Andante II Perfect for Beginner-Intermediate Players?
The Andante II violin delivers exceptional tonal quality and craftsmanship, offering an unparalleled sound experience in its price range. It provides beginners with the opportunity to produce rich, resonant tones that rival those of higher-end violins, making it ideal for progressing musicians. With the same violin-making techniques applied to our higher series models, the Andante II represents the perfect blend of affordability, quality, and playability—making it the perfect choice for aspiring violinists.
Our Australian luthiers and apprentices ensure every violin is expertly prepared so that every player has an equal opportunity to enjoy a well-made instrument.
The term "outfit" means this violin comes complete with a case and bow. It includes an oblong (rectangular) case with plenty of pocket space and a wooden bow with an ebony frog.
