"The Stradivari, in the other hand, has a remarkable combination of attributes. The pianissimos float effortlessly. The instrument's response is instantaneous. The sound can be rich, sensuous or throbbing at every range, yet can also be clear, cultured and pure. Each sound stimulates the player's imagination. However, there is no room for error as one cannot push the sound, rather it needs to be released. Since 1983 the cello's sound has been growing constantly, becoming richer, deeper and fuller. Part can be attributed to constant playing, causing it to vibrate more fully. Part may be due to my own changing aural aesthetics." – Yo-Yo Ma
The 1712 cello is a remarkable professional-grade instrument, it has a powerful and focused tone. Crafted with the finest spruce and maple, it represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship by the master luthiers of the Orion Masters Workshop. The creation of this cello was a meticulous process, spanning over two years of planning, building, and finishing.
This custom model is inspired by the original Stradivarius cello crafted in 1712, now famously played by Yo-Yo Ma. Its finish emulates the character of a vintage cello that has undergone careful revarnishing, employing traditional Cremonese varnish ingredients and techniques.
Designed with a Stradivarius blueprint, the cello features a narrower waist, which contributes to its exceptionally balanced and resonant tone. Exclusively commissioned by Crescendo Music, this one-of-a-kind bespoke instrument is truly unparalleled.
