Reverend Descent Baritone Electric Guitar in Periwinkle
The Reverend Descent W Baritone is a combination of baritone depth and standard-length playability, delivering an instrument that offers the thick lows sought from baritone players without sacrificing the comfortable feel of a standard guitar.
The Descent W features a lightweight korina body, known for its mahogany-like sustain. The body's shape features a deep cut where the neck and body meet- the Descent W's 26.75-inch scale maple neck being the star of the show. Providing a unique balance between the extended range of a baritone and the playability of a standard guitar, the neck of the Descent W is made from roasted maple, undergoing a heat-treating process to remove impurities and ensure improved seasonal stability.
In the pickup department, this baritone beauty offers soapbar-inspired Cleancut and Nuevo 90 pickups. These "humcutting" Reverend gems deliver vintage P-90 punch with clarity, and a controllable grit that makes this instrument a versatile choice for players who crave that P-90 sound from a deeper source than a standard guitar.
Detailed hardware is placed throughout the Descent W, from pin-lock tuners on the headstock to an ultra-secure Pure Tone jack with redundant contacts, allowing for peace of mind during performances. The attention to detail extends to the triple string tree design, helping to ease string buzz, and a dual-action truss rod for easy neck adjustments.
In the realm of electronics, the Descent W boasts both treble and bass contours, allowing precise tonal control. The guitar's ability to access sweet spots where the baritone truly shines sets it apart and alow for the shaping of tone at the source instead of relying on other sources to EQ.
The Descent W's Wilkinson WVS50 IIK Tremolo bar with Vari-claw technology adds another layer of sonic exploration, with adjustment of the tremolo's feel and response made easy by its construction. A Boneite nut and pin-lock tuners also contribute to this guitar's increased tuning stability,
As with all Reverend instruments, the Descent W carries the legacy of a brand that started in a Detroit-area garage and has since become a staple on the world's biggest stages. Founded by designer and luthier Joe Naylor, Reverend Guitars has garnered praise and presence among influential players like Billy Corgan and Reeves Gabrels. Each Descent W is initialed and numbered by one of Reverend's top-notch technicians.
