Interesting fact 1 : At age 20, Brahms had the chance to meet famous composers Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann. He then became close friends with Schumann and his wife, Clara Schumann.
Interesting fact 2 : Brahms' success was due to his hard work and his critical attitude toward his own music. He started composing at age 11 but because he thought those compositions were not well written, he had them destroyed. Brahms also spent about 15 years to perfect and alter his First Symphony - he never felt he could live up to the standard set by Ludwig van Beethoven.
